PhD student Paula, who experiences blindness, uses a screen reader to test two different versions of the same app. The two apps are identical for sighted users, but are constructed differently from a technical perspective, and this results in a very different experience for her.

The first app is built with the Ionic 1 framework with no alterations made to the code. The second app uses the Ionic 1 framework but has accessibility enhancements applied.

The purpose of the test was to see how well the Ionic framework performs for users such as Paula who require the use of an assistive device, and to determine the feasibility of improving the experience with enhancements made by the Channels and Platforms development team.
