Library and Information Science Research Australia is a project funded by The Australian Research Council. The project aims to encourage and enable research culture and practice within Australia’s library and information profession.
A free online seminar was held Tuesday 23 November 2021.
This session presents findings from a national online survey of 291 Australian library and information science (LIS) practitioners that investigated beliefs and attitudes towards research, research experience and support needs, as well as current involvement in research. The project has resulted in the first empirically derived model for LIS practitioner-research, providing key insights into how Australia’s LIS profession can best support and enable research culture and practice. The model proposes five steps (supported by four scaffolded transition points) for LIS practitioners to develop as confident practitioner-researchers.
This study is part of the Library and Information Science Research Australia (LISRA) project funded by the Australian Research Council. LISRA was designed to encourage and enable research culture and practice within Australia’s LIS profession, to inform decision making, and to ensure LIS services are evidence-based and relevant to changing community needs.
